Act-1 | Act-2 | Act-3 | Act-4 | Act-5 | Act-6 | Act-7 | Act-8

A New Beginning

Rod Stewart of Furby House Books in Port Hope purchased the vacant Capitol Theatre building in 1989 in order to preserve the building, and with hopes of one day restoring it. He soon realized that his restoration plans were too ambitious for one individual and, after recieving government funding and forming the Capitol Theatre Heritage Foundation, he sold the building. On June 1st, 1993, he presented the deed to Don Rumgay, president of the newly-formed Capitol Theatre Foundation.
